Down & Durty : Booty Bass Bikini Bash

leave a comment

The little party we used to throw at Lennys Bar has come along way…..This Saturday is Down and Durty at Graveyard, and boy we are getting durty. The boys from Cobra Corps have teamed up with Vice Magazine, Colt 45 and The Southern Style Djs to bring East Atlanta one hell of a banger. The Booty Bas Bikini Bash is for anyone who grew up on Booty Bass or just has an appreciation for Booty Bass. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the bassed-out bastard child of the South, heres the breakdown :

The term booty bass can refer to several different, loosely related genres of music.

Miami bass – largely based in Miami throughout Florida, with some roots in Atlanta. It is essentially the second form of Hip-Hop to come into existence, but wasn’t known by the media until the 1990′s, when the music had become stigmatised by explicit lyrics; includes performers like 2 Live Crew, Kilo Ali, DJ Kizzy Rock, Dj Jelly, Raheem The Dream and many many more…

Ghettotech – largely based in Detroit, Michigan, considered a fusion of Miami bass with new school Detroit Electro, despite it not resembling either. The tempos are far faster than either genre, and it maintains the repetitive nature of modern post-rave global electronic dance music.

Ghetto house – largely refers to later period Dance Mania Records recording artists. This is a brand of new school House music performers who loop often X-rated lyrics over House beats.

Baltimore Club – Also known as Baltimore Breaks, this genre is popular mostly in Maryland, and the music genre Ghetto house borrows many elements from it, with the exception of being based on House music instead of breakbeats.

leave a comment

This is a world destruction, your life ain’t nothing

The human race is becoming a disgrace
Countries are fighting with chemical warfare
Not giving a damn about the people who live
Nostradamus predicts the coming of the Antichrist
Hey, look out, the third world nations are on the rise
The Democratic-Communist Relationship,
won’t stand in the way of the Islamic force
The CIA is looking for you
The KGB is smarter than you think
Brainwash mentalities to control the system
Using TV and movies – religions of course
Yes, the world is headed for destruction
Is it a nuclear war?
What are you asking for?
This is a world destruction Your life ain’t nothing
The human race is becoming a disgrace
The rich get richer
The poor are getting poorer
Fascist, chauvinistic government fools
People, Moslems, Christians and Hindus
Are in a time zone just searching for the truth
Who are you to think you’re a superior race?
Facing forth your everlasting doom
We are Time Zone We’ve come to drop a bomb on you
World destruction, kaboom, kaboom, kaboom!
This is the world destruction, your life ain’t nothing
The human race is becoming a disgrace
Nationalities are fighting with each other
Why is this? Because the system tells you
Putting people in faceless categories
Knowledge isn’t what it used to be
Military tactics to control a nation
Who wants to be a president or king? Me!
Mother Nature is gonna work against you
Nothing in your power that you can do
Yes, the world is headed for destruction
You and I know it, cause the Bible tells you
If we don’t start to look for a better life,
the world will be dest

AFRIKA BAMBAATAA WEEK: LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT BEAT

leave a comment

>>Afrika Bambatta
So we’re gonna do like a mini Afrika Bambaataa tribute thoughout the week. Just shinning light on Afrika Bambaataa like who he is, what he’s done, what he stands for, ect. And my friends, I hope you get just as amazed and inspried as I am discovering who this guy is.
>>Hip-Hop/Rap
About 4 out of 5 people right now are rappers. Thats cool, Rap is from hip-hop. The definition is up to much debate. Me personally, rap is popular, rap pays bills. Hip-hop cultivates, hip-hop is a artform. And since its induction back in what 78′ (any body please inform me the actual year)? Hip-hop has gone through a lot from it’s expansion during the 80′s, being regarded as some fad, to an established multi-billion dollar  music genre through mass appeal and acceptance; as well as the emergence of different movements and groups that constantly take from and redefine hip-hop. And even today, hip-hop deals with the music industry marketing machine take over and the resurrection and rebirth via internet.   Hip-hop has transformed so much that kids coming into it have no reference of where this stuff comes from, they don’t know the history. For the most part we don’t know the history.  But I guess we can start with this one guy. His name is Afrika Bambaataa they call him the Godfather or Grandfather of hip-hop depending on who you ask.
>>Planet Rock
I think this is how things got started…….They were just looking for the perfect beat.
