DJ MEGAN FOXXX has done it again aka Heroes & Villains has come together with LIL JON and DIPLO to create this monster of a track to shake up your summer playlist. If you were at HEAVY last week you were there to witness the madness that was caused when this track was dropped. The Constellations-Southern Gothic Album Review

leave a comment

You know how like a group picks up attention from locals and media and has this awesome organic originality to it that makes you smile and feel proud and grateful that such talent and creativity has come from your city and has been signed to a label and toured with Snoop Dogg? That’s pretty awesome. And that’s pretty much what’s going on with The Constellations. I tell you, there are a lot of people in that band but I’m always expecting 12…. because of the name and all and I think that maybe they rotate in and out like Wu-Tang because I never see 12 and then I think that the name has nothing to do with group numbers but something else. I should re-read theinterview We did with them, I’m sure the answer is in there somewhere.

Does anyone else find it strange that The Claremont has been deemed not fit for habitation but the Lounge is still open? I was really confused about that when we got an invite to the CD release party these kids had the other night.

Speaking of which. Great album. The sound is refreshing, nostalgic, creepy, fun, lovable and sentimental. They have a distinct sound and it’s all over the album. It’s very rich. I wonder what their creative and production process is like with all those heads involved. There are a few features. Cee-lo’s fits perfectly but Asher Roth’s is kinda like, needs to be shaken up because it’s starting to separate and float to the top like italian salad dressing. It doesn’t help that it’s on the track that I’ve heard tons live and I’m pretty sure his verse wasn’t played.

I recommend downloading it and adding it to your playlist. Be sure to listen to it so you can be all “I remember when!” when these kids are all over magazine covers and on the VMA’s and like everyone is on their nut wanting to be featured on a track or wanting them to collab on their tracks and be in movies for relevant reasons and doing the talk show circuit and getting followed by the paparazzi…
