Peter Wolf Crier, July 6 at the Masquerade

leave a comment

By Rube Ambler We first heard Peter Wolf Crier on a great podcast called Musicheads from Minnesota Public Radio and were instantly intrigued.  (We strongly recommend the podcast) We also find it quite easy to recommend Peter Wolf Crier too.  Their sorta Americana-style simultaneously flirts with 60s pop and more recent alt-country scene to produce [...]

Besides Daniel, July 3 at Drunken Unicorn

leave a comment

By Matt Jarrard My first exposure to Besides Daniel was through one of his very well done, very DIY, YouTube videos (like the one below). Something about Danny’s videos set them apart from the umpteen other “boy singing indie cover song into camera”  videos floating around out there. After seeing him live, and listening to [...]

Our choice for the evening is young phenom, Lille, whose choice of instrument (ukelele) gives no indication of what she’s really capable of. Listen and discover. Lille – Tall Shoulders

He’s taken over our Twitter account while he’s there and will be giving us live updates from the field…literally. (Let’s hope he’s got the right cell network.) We’re also hoping he comes [...]

Tonight: Jukebox the Ghost at Star Bar

leave a comment

About a week ago, we told you (at Alex’s request) to mark this date to see Free Energy at the Star Bar. Today, we’re going to give you another reason to get out tonight – Jukebox the Ghost. They draw regular comparisons to The Ben Folds Five because they are a piano driven [...]

Free Energy, June 3 at Star Bar

This one’s for Alex. He loves these guys and probably will drag me to the Star Bar to see them. This is their new video for “Bang Pop” which seems inspired in equal parts by Twisted Sister, Van Halen and the Ramones, except of course the hair isn’t as big, the solo isn’t [...]

Tonight: Tealights, Sour Notes, Little Tybee at the EARL

leave a comment

Tonight two locals and an Austin, Texas favorite descend on the EARL. Long time readers know of our love for Little Tybee and have seen the literary and artistic talents of Brock Scott right here on Atlanta’s A-List. Atlanta’s own Tealights produced one of our favorite EPs of 2009. The Sour Notes came [...]
