ROB WONDER – NO STATIC AT ALL

leave a comment

…not when you listen to internet radio at least which is where you can find Atlanta’s own Rob Wonder on Scions’ Radio 17. Will you look at that… this has turned into a two for one. You get the link to Rob’s radio show AND a free mix from said show. Lucky ducky. Well, below you can read what the lovely folks at Scion have to say about Mr. Wonder …. or…. you can listen for yourself and make your own review.
+enjoy+

Greetings!

As part Scion’s new Radio 17 Host EP series, Atlanta DJ Rob Wonder created “No Static At All,” a companion compilation for his streaming radio station of the same name. Like Wonder’s radio show, the EP is a rumbling mix of music styles and young talent from around the planet such as Bok Bok, Kastle, Kingdom and Klever. As Wonder says, “This collection of sounds was put together to move minds, hearts and feet.” Coinciding with this musical release, there is also a booklet (available both in print and digitally) about “No Static At All” featuring tweaked creature illustrations by Atlanta art legend R. Land. (Tracklist below)

If you want to keep up with Rob’s adventures follow @robwonder on Twitter and check out his radio show with new episodes every first Thursday of the month at robwonderradio.com. The June episode features Kastle delivering an A-1 exclusive mix. Don’t miss it! Only got a week left before the new show debuts.

Tracklist:

Rob Wonder & Mayhem – Rejoice
Psalm One – Juke Me
Maker – Silver Mountain
B. Rich feat Armanni Reigh and Sporty-O – U Made Me
Bok Bok – Ripe Banana 2
Kingdom – Pathfinder
Kastle feat Virus Syndicate – Need U
Klever – Bliss

Thanks for listening and sharing.

If you haven’t experienced a gold sweat party your missing out big time. Its 5 bucks to get in and party starts at 11. We also got this latest track from Egyptrixx to give you a taste of what to expect // MORE INFO AND LINKS AFTER THE JUMP + enjoy

Egyptrixx is a producer from Toronto, Canada, who makes celestial club music; ghettotech for the tricks of the galaxy…jeep music for a Saturn desert. Tracks like ‘Use Magic To Kill Death blow crowds away with their seasick, lilting take on vocal bassline, like some cyborg sound-image of a diva trapped in a pitch-bending hall of mirrors, over oozing slugs of 4×4 bass. It’s an exhilarating right-but-wrong tension that all of Egyptrixx’ tracks share – a shifting balance between melodic and dissonant, rapturous and antisocial.
(Alex “Bok Bok” Sushon – Fact Magazine)

In just one year, his distinct aesthetic – crooked and disorientating layers of bass, saturated by retro-futurist polysynths – has become an acclaimed presence in underground music, garnering praise from The Wire, Fact Magazine, Grindin, and countless other blogs and websites. His unique and energetic live sets are in-demand, with headlining sets banked all over Europe and North America and a busy touring schedule in upcoming months. In his music, bass drops and jacking percussion are balanced by a space-disco euphoria found in key melodies. With critically acclaimed releases already out on Vicious Pop, Wide, Idiot House, influential UK imprint Ramp, and a critically acclaimed new 12” for Night Slugs Records, ‘The Only Way Up”, the future looks bright for Egyptrixx.

WIL MAY // got to move

The time is now. Chernobyl mutants have rose up, and just seized Moscow! Over night, the Soviet Empire has been transformed into a radioactive regime, led by the almighty PROXY. Post 9/11 rave vibes cloaked in Muscovite angst are his global agenda.

In our time, no foreign army has ever occupied American soil. Until now. The invading armies planned for everything… except for a gang of derelicts called ‘THE OVERTHROW.’

Fuck it… If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!

From the ashes of the Soviet empire, from the flames of history, rises PROXY...

1997. The Year of Tar and Horses. The Prodigy plays Red Square in Moscow. Hundreds of thousands of people attend the show, but only one is truly changed. By the crushing sound. By people absolutely losing their shit to synths and sustained aggression.

In a decade’s time, PROXY would be remixing Prodigy and opening for them on a massive tour of Russia.

2004 to present. Tiga signs PROXY to Turbo Recordings, beginning his own deceit-fueled ascent up the music ladder-business. PROXY earns respect and awe from such heavyweights as Justice, Bloody Beetroots, Soulwax, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan and Mr. Oizo with astonishing, severe tracks like "Who Are You", “Decoy”, “Dance in Dark” and the massive “Raven”, which merits special mention not just because of its ubiquity, but because it illustrates in full the singular power of PROXY MUSIC.

PROXY has also produced remixes for Peaches, Prodigy, Tiga, Boys Noize, Chromeo, Digitalism, Moby and a host of others willing to pay him in Kocmoc cigarettes...co-headlined a huge New Year’s Eve show with Soulwax in Australia and now embarking on his first North American tour, including HARD fest NYC, Coachella, along with Sloppy Seconds!

Little known fact:

Santa has a clause (no pun intended) which states that any tomfoolery whatsoever that takes places on the night of Christmas will not be used against said tomfoolerer in regards to Santa’s naughty list.  So get your ass to El Bar and act a got dang fool.
